Corn Maze FAQ's

Summer holiday activity The Corn Maze Colchester Basildon Essex
Our Corn Maze in now closed for the summer

What is your corn maze?

It’s simple really our corn maze is a family fun maize maze in Essex for you to hatch your escape from! We have used traditional corn to plant our maze so it is simple farming fun for the whole family to enjoy! With a whole host of fun games, food stalls and pick your own sunflowers and potatoes as well there is plenty for you to enjoy here!

Where are you?

Luckily, we have Essex pretty much covered as we have a corn maze in North Essex, Colchester and South Essex, Basildon.
The addresses are:
North Essex Corn Maze
Green Lane
CO6 3PR
Bus route - 88
South Essex Corn Maze
Watch House Farm
Wash Road
SS15 4ER
Bus route - 9 and 100
We will have plenty of corn maze signs up around the county so keep your eyes peeled!

Is it muddy?

As you would expect it is a farm and just a track so if it has been raining in the week then it is likely to be muddy! Hopefully the sun will be shining and rain and mud won’t be a problem!
The track in the maze may be uneven though so it is best to wear suitable footwear- wellies are a must in and after wet weather and high heels are a no no!
If it is too wet and we have to shut the maze we will update our website and social media pages!

Who can I bring?

Everybody- the whole family, neighbours, friends- the corn maze, pick you own sunflowers and potatoes, games and even the yummy food are fun for all ages so please bring everyone!
Unfortunately, due to health and safety reasons we cannot allow dogs on the site- even our beloved Fudgie has to stay at home!

Do I need to book?

No, the beauty of our corn maze is that you don’t need to book so you can just turn up whenever you like!

How much does it cost?

We have tried to make the corn maze as purse friendly as possible so the admission prices include access to the maze and the field of fun with plenty of games to keep the children entertained for hours!

What else is there apart from the maze?

As well as the maze we are excited that we have got pick you own sunflowers (50p a stem) and pick your own potatoes (£1 a punnet). We have got lots of interesting facts around the maze and potato and sunflower picking to teach children about the growing crops.
We have also got lots of games in the field of fun including our infamous bale mountain and of course seats for the parents to sit, relax and grab a coffee while the children are busy playing!

Can I bring a large group i.e. school visit/ group coach trip?

Absolutely! We love seeing big groups running round enjoying the maze! Please contact us first as we will be able to sort a group discount dependant upon the group size. This also means we can reserve minibus parking for your group! This applies for groups of 20+ people.

Is there Car Parking?

At the corn maze we have plenty of free car parking at both our sites – both on grass fields. Please stick to 5mph and drive safely as there will be children about and it could be uneven and muddy.
Please note that users of the car parks do so at their own risk. The management will not accept any liability for any accidents.

What about the weather?

We hope to be open throughout August but if it is raining or the weather is bad then we may have to shut. We will keep our social media up to date so you can plan your visit to the maze accordingly and push it back to a sunny day when we are open!

What do I need to bring with me?!

The WHOLE FAMILY, picnic if you wish (although there will be light refreshments and drinks available to purchase,) and most importantly your camera to take some fab pictures! We have everything else you need on site to complete the maize, pick your own sunflowers, potatoes and green beans ! Although you may wish to bring gloves for digging in the mud for potatoes if you don’t want to get muddy!

Are there any facilities?

We know how important it is it to be fed and watered so on both sites there will be light refreshments to purchase but you are very welcome to bring a picnic and sit on one of our many straw bales or wooden benches for seats.
On site this year we have:
Corn Maze with fun game
Field of Fun with bale mountain and lots of other games
Cold drinks and light refreshments
Straw bales and benches for picnic area
Pick your own Sunflowers
Pick your own Potatoes
Pick your own green beans
Car Park
Cash/ Card Pay desk

Do you take card Payments?

Yes we do take card payments (excluding amex). This means you can pay either by cash or card! We just don’t accept payment via cheque.

Can we bring Wheelchairs?

Yes of course you can but please bear in mind that we are a working farm and the maze will be in our field so the ground maybe uneven and possibly muddy. Our maze track is dirt so will be muddy in and after rain and will be tricky to push a wheelchair round. The same applies for buggies.
We do have limited disabled parking so please speak to a parking attendant and they will be able to direct you.

We love updating our social media so please follow us on facebook, twitter, Instagram or google+ to see what we are up to and how our plants are growing!
